Dryads are nymphs and children of the forest. Dryads are predominantly female and usually have olive skin color and slender bodies. But only a few know what is the secret behind the appearance of the dryads. Stormfield’s treatises state that dryads are born as awakened plants, which usually have the outline of a female humanoid body. All Dryads live in the same forest and act, think and communicate as a single organism. In a situation of danger, all of them, like an angry bee hive, seem to merge into one, and ready to swoop in and deal with the enemy, no matter how many enemies there are.

It is almost impossible to stumble across Dryads as they are extremely secretive and cautious. They avoid contact with strangers, therefore, they are good at disguising themselves as the environment and staying put for long hours without making a single sound. Also, they have very sensitive hearing, so they are able to hear unusual sounds and recognize uninvited guests from many miles away. Even elves can envy their sensitive hearing and natural instinct.

Dryads

Dryads may seem to live by solely following instincts, but this is not the case. Dryads are very sensible having their own reasoning and even complex social hierarchies. At the head of all dryads is the oldest and the most powerful Dryad, the progenitor of all dryads. Then comes preceptresses, who are raising and teaching the little young Dryads. Also, there are elite warriors who devoted their lives to protect the borders of the forest territories. All of them appear to be one big organism, who serves the forest and its well-being.

Dryads grow out of the ground. When they reach a certain maturity and height, they are able to break away from the stem and begin their autonomous journey. But the only condition to give the birth of the new Dryad is the body of another Dryad. Therefore, at the place of the death of another Dryad, a new one always grows. When a Dryad dies, her experience and memories are passed on to the next successor. Thus, the legacy of Dryads is passed down through the thousands of years and generations.

But there is one big danger. If the dryad dies on the battlefield and her sisters cannot quickly carry the body back to the thicket of the forest, where a new dryad could safely grow up. The new dryad will start to grow in an unprotected area where the dryad fetus can be easily killed. If the fetus is killed, it will stop the chain of resurgence of the new dryads.
